Vacation Detox // 3 Smoothie Recipes To Get You Back On Track

Ok so you overdid it at your bestie’s annual BBQ or had one too many at Essence Fest. Here are 3 smoothie recipes to help you get your summer bawdy back.

1. Green Tropical Smoothie

Greens are great to detox your body from alcohol and bad foods. The chlorophyll in leafy greens like spinach, kale, cucumbers, and celery rids the body of toxins. If you don’t like the taste of greens, add fruit to sweeten it a bit. Using frozen fruit, helps to cool down the smoothie without having to add ice.

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1/2 cup of frozen mangoes
  • 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup of frozen banana
  • a small piece of ginger
  • few leaves of basil
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Serve cold.

2. Sweet Heat Smoothie 

This is a great (and simple) recipe if you’re craving something sweet in the evenings. The mango helps to crave your sweet tooth, while the capsaicin in cayenne pepper helps to boost metabolism.

  • 1 cup of frozen mangoes
  • 1/2 cup of coconut flakes (or coconut milk with fat)
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or add according to your heat tolerance)
  • 1/2 cup of ice
  • 1 cup of almond milk

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Serve cold.

3. Banana Foster Protein Shake 

Protein keeps you full longer, which means more stable insulin levels and hunger cravings. Fiber helps you to detox by pushing waste out of the body. That’s where chia seeds some in.

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of steel cut oats
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of flax seeds
  • 1 scoop of whey protein
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup of ice cubes
  • 1 cup of almond milk

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Serve cold.
